| Integrated approach to efficiency and risk management |
The ABC+ Plan continues the strategy of combining productive efficiency with environmental risk management, maintaining the seven programs of the original ABC Plan and improving their scope. The results of the original ABC Plan demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach, as several of the established goals were exceeded, achieving 152% implementation in area (54.03 million hectares compared to the proposed 35.5 million) and 119% in mitigation (196.67 million tons of CO2 eq compared to the target of 133-163 million). |

| Scaling up |
The main lesson learned from the ABC+ Plan was the need to significantly scale up interventions. The emissions reduction target was increased sevenfold (from approximately 160 million to 1.1 billion tons of CO2 eq.), demonstrating the understanding that previous actions, although successful, needed to be significantly expanded to adequately address the climate challenge. |

| Integrated territorial approach |
ABC+ adopts a more comprehensive approach to productive areas, recognizing the importance of complying with the Forest Code, maintaining soil health, and conserving water and biodiversity. This more holistic approach reflects the learning that isolated interventions are less effective than those that consider the entire productive system and its surroundings. |

| Diversification of technologies |
The ABC+ Plan maintains and expands the promoted technologies, adding emphasis to efficient irrigation systems and bio-inputs. This diversification reflects a deeper understanding of the different pathways to reducing emissions and improving sustainability. |

| Adaptation to different productive contexts |
The varied results among the different components of the original ABC Plan (for example, 35% recovery of degraded pastures versus 867% in animal waste treatment) highlight the importance of adapting strategies to the specific characteristics of each production system. |

| Institutional coordination |
The successful implementation of the ABC Plan and its continuation as ABC+ highlights the importance of institutional coordination, with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply leading the initiative and presenting it at international forums such as COP-26. |

| Monitoring and evaluation |
The ability to accurately measure the results of the ABC Plan allowed us to assess its success and define evidence-based targets for ABC+, underscoring the importance of robust monitoring and evaluation systems. |
